Find answers to common questions about PayCycle
PayCycle is an iOS app that helps you manage your money by organizing all your income and expenses by pay period. It automatically generates your pay periods based on your income frequency and shows you exactly how much money you have left after bills for each paycheck.
PayCycle offers a free 7-day trial so you can try all features risk-free. After the trial, a subscription is required to continue using the app. Check the App Store for current pricing.
Yes! PayCycle includes a 7-day free trial with full access to all features. No credit card required upfront—just download and start using the app immediately.
Yes! PayCycle uses iCloud to sync your data across your devices, which is enabled by default but can be turned off in settings. Your data is encrypted and only accessible by you through your iCloud account. PayCycle never collects or shares your financial information.
PayCycle organizes your finances by pay period, not by month. This is perfect for people who live paycheck to paycheck, allowing you to see exactly what bills are due before your next payday. Plus, it includes partial payment tracking for when you need to split big bills across multiple paychecks.
Pay periods are generated based on income items you mark as "primary." You can mark one, some, or all income sources as primary depending on how you want to track your cash flow. More primary income sources create smaller, more detailed periods that show exactly when money comes in. The app automatically assigns all expenses to the correct pay period based on their due dates.
Partial payments let you track big bills that you pay in chunks across multiple paychecks. Mark any expense as a partial payment, then track each payment you make. PayCycle shows a progress bar indicating how much you've paid and what's left, making it easy to manage large expenses when money is tight.
Yes! PayCycle has two types of notifications: in-app notifications (always on) and system notifications (can be disabled). You set up notifications for each income or expense item individually in their edit screens, choosing up to two reminder times (day of, day before, 2-3 days before, week before, or two weeks before). System notifications can be enabled/disabled during onboarding or in iOS Settings.
Yes! The Insights tab shows interactive charts of your spending broken down by category. You can view spending patterns for your current pay period, month, quarter, or year. This helps you identify where your money goes and find opportunities to save.
Absolutely! Add all your income sources (paychecks, side gigs, etc.) and all your expenses (bills, subscriptions, groceries, etc.). PayCycle calculates your cash flow for each pay period: income minus expenses equals what you have left over.
PayCycle uses colors to show transaction status at a glance: green for paid items, red for overdue bills, blue for partial payments in progress, and gray for upcoming expenses. This makes it easy to see what needs attention.
PayCycle requires iOS 15.0 or later. The app is optimized for all iPhone models running compatible iOS versions.
Yes! Since all your data is stored locally on your device, PayCycle works completely offline. You don't need an internet connection to use any features.
PayCycle uses iCloud sync to automatically keep your data synchronized across all your devices. This is enabled by default. You can disable iCloud sync in Settings if you prefer to keep data local to one device, and the app will continue to work seamlessly without it.
Yes! iCloud sync is enabled by default, so your data automatically syncs across all your Apple devices signed in with the same iCloud account. If you disable iCloud sync in Settings, your data stays local to that device only.
Simply swipe left on any transaction and tap the "Mark as Paid" option. You can also tap into the transaction details and mark it paid from there. The transaction will turn green and your cash flow will update automatically.
Yes! When adding an expense, you can set it as recurring and specify the frequency (weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, etc.). PayCycle will automatically create future instances based on your schedule.
Swipe left on any transaction for quick actions, or tap on the transaction to view full details where you can edit or delete it. Changes update your cash flow calculations in real-time.
Yes! PayCycle comes with preconfigured categories, but they're fully customizable. Create unlimited categories with any icon and color combination. Edit or delete existing ones, or trim the list to just what you need. Income and expense categories are separate, and you manage them in Settings → Manage Categories or while editing items.
First, check that system notifications are enabled for PayCycle in iOS Settings > Notifications. In-app notifications are always on. Make sure you've set up alerts for specific items in their edit screens—swipe left on an item or tap the edit button (pencil icon) in the summary view to access notification settings.
Pay periods are based on income items marked as "primary." Edit your income items (swipe left or tap the pencil icon in summary view) and adjust which ones are marked as primary, or modify their schedule/dates. The app automatically regenerates pay periods based on your primary income.
